In my portfolio, I explore significant historic and contemporary female icons such as Nefertiti, the Venus de Milo (Aphrodite), and Marilyn Monroe. I see past and present as part of one continuous cloth in my studio investigations, finding the threads that stitch these historic women together. With the upcoming centennial of Marilyn Monroe’s birth in June 2026, my oeuvre’s special focus is timely. I have featured Monroe—the Aphrodite of our time—in numerous paintings, which I am working to exhibit this coming year.
“Others were as physically beautiful as [Monroe] was, but there was obviously something more in her, something that people saw and recognized in her performance and with which they identified. She had a luminescent quality— a combination of wistfulness, radiance, yearning— that set her apart and yet made everyone wish to be a part of it, to share in the childish naïveté which was at once so shy and yet so vibrant.” – Lee Strasberg
